If you have watched Royal Challengers Bangalore playing in this season then, you would have also noticed the 18-year old off-spinner playing for them who goes by the name Washington Sundar. The young sensation hailing from Tamilnadu is seen playing in a jersey that is numbered 555. Since almost all players sport a jersey that has a two-digit number, Washington’s jersey is making people curious.
The jersey number of Washington Sundar ‘555’ first came into prominence when he played for the Rising Pune Supergiants in the IPL 2017. Sundar was called in to replace Pune’s lead spinner Ravi Ashwin. Here Sundar played with the number 555 on the back.

Sundar then revealed the reason behind this. The off-spinner was born on 5th October 1999 in Chennai. His birth time is 5:05 AM. Noting the co-incidence Washingon decided to keep his birth date and birth time on the back of his jersey as his kit number.

Playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore in this season alongside India’s lead spinner in the limited overs cricket, Yuzvendra Chahal, Sundar will be hoping to learn a lot and impress with his performances. He has so far taken three wickets in three matches and has contributed with the bat too.
Sundar is not the only one to sport a three-digit jersey number, though. Bravo and Pollard wore jersey number 400 to commemorate their number of T20 wickets and the number of T20 matches played respectively. Chris Gayle has 333 on his back, which is his highest Test score. Muralitharan has the number 800 on his jersey which stands for 800 victims he sent back in the Test cricket.
