Mumbai Indians star Suryakumar Yadav has once again become the centre of IPL trade speculation, with fresh reports claiming that the India T20 captain could part ways with the five-time champions ahead of the IPL 2027 season. While there has been no official confirmation from either the franchise or the player, the latest developments have intensified discussions about a major shake-up at the Mumbai-based outfit.

According to a report shared on RevSportz Hindi’s YouTube channel, Suryakumar’s long association with Mumbai Indians could be coming to an end. The report also suggests that the franchise is likely to undergo significant changes after a disappointing IPL 2026 campaign, with several senior players, including captain Hardik Pandya, also linked with potential exits.
Suryakumar endured a difficult IPL 2026 season after enjoying one of the finest campaigns of his career in 2025. The stylish right-hander amassed 717 runs in 16 matches during IPL 2025 at a remarkable average of 65.18, finishing with five half-centuries. However, his form dipped sharply the following season, as he managed just two fifties and averaged only 20.76 in 13 innings.

Despite the slump in franchise cricket, Suryakumar continued to enjoy success on the international stage, leading India to the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 title. Even so, Mumbai Indians struggled throughout the IPL season, winning only four of their 14 league matches to finish ninth in the 10-team standings. The disappointing campaign has reportedly prompted the management to consider significant changes before IPL 2027.

Journalist Subhayan Chakrabarty claimed that Suryakumar’s exit from Mumbai Indians is almost certain, although his next destination remains unclear. While a move to Lucknow Super Giants had been discussed in cricket circles, the report states that the Indian batter is not keen on joining the franchise.
At the same time, Kolkata Knight Riders are reportedly focused on pursuing a potential deal for Hardik Pandya, leaving Suryakumar’s future unresolved.

“Suryakumar Yadav is leaving MI. However, an immediate trade appears unlikely. Kolkata Knight Riders are concentrating on Hardik Pandya, while Suryakumar is not interested in joining Lucknow Super Giants. At the moment, there is no confirmed interest from any other franchise, but one thing is clear—he is set to leave Mumbai Indians,” Subhayan Chakrabarty claimed.
As things stand, the reports remain speculative, with neither Mumbai Indians nor Suryakumar Yadav issuing an official statement. However, if the rumours prove accurate, IPL 2027 could witness one of the biggest player movements in recent league history.
