Former India cricketer Aakash Chopra analysed and rated former CSK batter Abhinav Mukund’s 2027 World Cup India squad. Mukund had a top five to begin with, including captain Shubman Gill, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, and KL Rahul. He also included Ishan Kishan as an additional wicket-keeper batter. Next, his squad had three all-rounders in Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, and Washington Sundar. Veteran Ravindra Jadeja was a notable exclusion as well. Mukund ended with five proper pacers – Harshit Rana, Prasidh Krishna, Jasprit Bumrah, Gurnoor Brar, and Mohammed Siraj.
“I think everybody has a consensus on this. First five are written in stone. Ishan Kishan for now feels like he is almost a certainty unless things change radically. He has included only three all-rounders – Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, and Washington Sundar. Ravindra Jadeja is not part of his team, and Sundar is. What could be the role for Sundar? I have no idea. Five batters, Ishan as the sixth batting option. Hardik Pandya at six, at seven he has made space for Axar or Washington,” he said in a video on his Instagram handle.
“At eight, Harshit Rana will be there in his 11. Harshit Rana, Prasidh Krishna, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, and Gurnoor Brar. He has gone with five out-and-out fast bowlers. I will give 7.8/8 on 10. Washi is interesting, as we have not been able to give him a big role in ODIs yet,” he further added.

Aakash Chopra also added two players whom he felt were missing in Abhinav Mukund’s 2027 World Cup squad, apart from veteran all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja. He added that the lack of a left-arm pacer and shared that Arshdeep Singh could have been there.
“I am missing a left-arm option in this team, Arshdeep Singh is missing. I am also missing Nitish Kumar Reddy in this team. Could he not have gotten a spot? He has also missed out Jadeja. Is it the last of Jaddu? It’s not too far from how the original squad will look like,” he said.
