The proposed white-ball series between India and Bangladesh is facing fresh uncertainty, with the BCCI and Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) discussing a possible change to the schedule. BCB president Tamim Iqbal has confirmed that both boards remain in talks over the tour, which is currently scheduled to begin next month.

India is due to play three ODIs and three T20Is in Bangladesh, with the opening ODI scheduled for September 3. However, with less than two weeks remaining before the proposed start of the series, there is still no official confirmation from the BCCI, raising further questions about whether the tour will go ahead as planned.

The series has already been postponed several times. Originally scheduled for August 2025, the tour was eventually pushed back to September 2026. The BCB had announced earlier this year that the six matches would be played across Dhaka and Chattogram.

Speaking at a press conference in Dhaka, Tamim confirmed that discussions between the two boards are ongoing and indicated that the dates could be adjusted. The uncertainty has also been linked to the BCB’s newly announced Game Development Trophy, an age-group competition scheduled to take place at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur from August 28 to September 9.

The domestic tournament overlaps with India’s proposed tour, but Tamim insisted that its schedule would not necessarily prevent the international series from taking place. He explained that the competition could be moved to the Bashundhara ground at short notice if the India series is finalised.

The biggest concern remains the BCCI’s failure to confirm an itinerary, despite the proposed first ODI being less than two weeks away. Until both boards reach an agreement, the India vs Bangladesh series will remain uncertain.

Relations between the two cricket boards have also faced challenges this year. Tensions reportedly increased after Kolkata Knight Riders withdrew Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman from the IPL, adding another layer of uncertainty to the upcoming tour.
