The mind games continued in Colombo on Day 3 as India and Sri Lanka battled for control in the second Test. With India looking to push for another victory in the series, Mohammed Siraj appeared to unsettle Sri Lanka opener Kamil Mishara with some verbal exchanges. The Indian pacer’s efforts were followed by a wicket in the very next over, as Prasidh Krishna dismissed Mishara, adding to Sri Lanka’s growing problems. The incident involving Siraj is the latest in a series of heated moments between the two teams during the ongoing Test series.
There have now been three notable sledging episodes across the two matches, adding an extra layer of intensity to an already competitive contest. Siraj’s exchange with Mishara was reportedly linked to an earlier confrontation between Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sri Lankan pacer Asitha Fernando. Fernando had appeared to intimidate Jaiswal after dismissing the Indian batter during the first innings, leading to a heated exchange between the two players.
The incident quickly attracted attention from cricket fans and experts. Former Indian cricketer and commentator Harsha Bhogle suggested that walking away could have been the better option for Jaiswal. However, the young Indian opener later made it clear that his reaction came in the heat of the moment and that he was not afraid of standing up to the opposition.

Interestingly, Fernando’s exchange with Jaiswal was believed to have its roots in an incident from the opening Test. During that match, Jaiswal attempted to distract Niroshan Dickwella from the slip cordon. The Indian opener reportedly referred to the IPL and encouraged the Sri Lankan batter to go for a six. Dickwella was dismissed soon afterwards.
The latest episode saw Siraj take centre stage against Mishara. A portion of the Indian pacer’s comments was picked up by the stump microphone, although there was little in the exchange itself to suggest anything particularly serious. However, the timing of Mishara’s dismissal immediately afterwards added intrigue to the incident.

On the third delivery of the 10th over of Sri Lanka’s first innings, Krishna dismissed Mishara to give India another important breakthrough. The batter could have left the delivery alone but attempted to drag it into the playing area instead.
Krishna had changed his angle by coming around the wicket before delivering a short ball at around 142 kmph. The delivery climbed sharply towards the left-handed Mishara, who attempted to play it from his toes but failed to control the shot. The ball struck Mishara’s arm before deflecting off his gloves and looping towards the wicketkeeper. Dhruv Jurel made no mistake behind the stumps to complete a straightforward catch and send Mishara back to the pavilion.

By lunch, Sri Lanka had reached 130/4, leaving India firmly in control of the contest. Lahiru Udara, Kamil Mishara and Kamindu Mendis were among the Sri Lankan batters dismissed, while nightwatchman Prabath Jayasuriya also departed early. With the hosts struggling to build a substantial response, India remained in a strong position to push for victory in Colombo.
