Former India batter Cheteshwar Pujara applauded pacer Prasidh Krishna for his stunning bowling effort on Day 3 of the Colombo Test against Sri Lanka. While stating that Mohammed Siraj is the more experienced fast bowler in the side, Pujara also stated that Prasidh seems to be the go-to bowler for Indian captain Shubman Gill in the ongoing Test as well. Prasidh has registered figures of 3-47 from 14 overs in the first innings as well.

During a discussion on Cricinfo, Pujara said: “I thought he was exceptional, not only today, but yesterday as well – the kind of lengths that he was hitting. On this pitch, you are getting that extra bounce and lateral movement as well. Even in the first Test, it was impressive that he was willing to pitch the ball up. Siraj is bit more experienced, but Prasidh was looking like the go-to bowler for Shubman Gill.”

Prasidh Krishna also bowled 13 overs in the first 40 overs of Sri Lanka’s innings and then returned to the attack when the second new ball was available. Pujara also feels that Shubman Gill missed a trick by not giving a couple of overs to Prasidh between the 55th and 70th over as well.

“I think somewhere close to the 55th to the 70th over, Prasidh could have bowled a couple of overs, maybe not a longer spell. But Shubman was thinking that he wanted to keep Prasidh fresh for the second new ball. I thought that was slightly delayed. Prasidh could have bowled some overs during that phase where Sri Lanka were building a partnership,” Cheteshwar Pujara concluded.
