India lost another wicket during their Asian Games 2026 semi-final against Sri Lanka at Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin, with Shivam Dube becoming the latest batter to depart. However, it was not just Dube’s dismissal that caught attention, but the spectacular catch taken by Sri Lankan captain Sahan Arachchige.

Dube struggled to get going and was dismissed for just three runs off nine deliveries. The India all-rounder attempted a powerful drive through the cover region after Tharindu Ratnayake bowled a tossed-up delivery outside the off stump.

The shot appeared to have enough power to beat the fielder, but Arachchige had other plans. Reacting quickly, the Sri Lankan captain threw himself to his left and stretched out his left hand towards the ball.

Despite the pace of the shot, Arachchige somehow managed to get his hand behind the ball and hold on. Even after landing heavily on the ground, he maintained control and ensured the ball did not spill out.

The stunning one-handed effort left Dube, Ratnayake and the players on the field stunned. It was one of the standout moments of the innings and turned what looked like a well-timed drive into a crucial wicket for Sri Lanka.

Dube’s dismissal came in the 19th over, with India losing their seventh wicket at 151/7 after 18.5 overs. The all-rounder could only watch in disbelief as Arachchige completed a remarkable piece of fielding.

The wicket added to India’s batting struggles in the semi-final, with Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson also failing to make significant contributions earlier in the innings.
