India will face the West Indies in the fourth T20I of their five-match series at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on October 14, 2026. With India leading the series 2-1 after the first three matches, the hosts will aim to strengthen their advantage and move closer to sealing the series.

Ahead of the crucial encounter, former India wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik has suggested a tactical change to the team’s bowling combination. He believes India should consider including Kuldeep Yadav, particularly given the expected conditions at the Hyderabad venue.
Speaking on Cricbuzz, Dinesh Karthik pointed to the flat nature of the pitch and the size of the ground while explaining why India could benefit from adding another specialist bowler. “Considering how flat that pitch is and the size of the ground, I would be tempted to bring in Kuldeep Yadav. I would try to bring him in place of one of the all-rounders,” Karthik said.

He further stressed the importance of having five specialist bowling options to compete effectively against opposition teams in Indian conditions. “I feel it is important to have five bowlers if you want to compete against any team in India, the way things are going,” he added.

Kuldeep has been among the key performers in the T20I series, taking seven wickets across three innings at an average of 23.85. His ability to pick up wickets through the middle overs could prove valuable against a West Indies batting lineup known for its aggressive approach.
Bringing the left-arm wrist-spinner into the playing XI would give India an additional specialist option and potentially improve their bowling balance. Karthik’s suggestion indicates that India may need to prioritise wicket-taking ability over an extra all-rounder for the Hyderabad conditions.

Dinesh Karthik also praised Shreyas Iyer’s captaincy during the ongoing series, highlighting his management of the bowling resources and decision-making under pressure. “In terms of captaincy, I think he has handled it very well, to be fair,” Karthik said, expressing satisfaction with Iyer’s tactical decisions in the previous match.
He also backed the captain’s bowling rotations, stating that there had been no major errors requiring significant changes. The fourth T20I will be important for both teams, with India looking to extend their lead and the West Indies aiming to level the series before the final match.
