Jammu and Kashmir fast bowler Auqib Nabi has been added to India’s squad for the first three ODIs against New Zealand, giving him an opportunity to be part of the team from the beginning of the series. The pacer was initially selected only for the fourth and fifth matches but has now been included in the squad for the opening three encounters.

Nabi made his ODI debut for India against the West Indies in Guwahati on September 30, 2026. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed his inclusion through an official statement. “The Men’s Selection Committee has added Auqib Nabi to the squad for the first three ODIs against New Zealand. The right-arm pacer, who was initially in the squad for the fourth and fifth ODIs of the series, will be a part of the Indian squad from the start of the ODI series,” the BCCI stated.

Nabi’s addition comes a day after the BCCI announced that fast bowler Prasidh Krishna would miss the upcoming ODI series against the Black Caps. Prasidh suffered a hamstring injury during the second ODI against the West Indies at Barsapara Cricket Stadium. Although he was initially selected for the first three matches against New Zealand, his participation depended on his fitness.

The pacer is expected to join the Indian squad in New Zealand next week. He could also feature in the third unofficial Test between India A and New Zealand A in Lincoln, which would provide him with valuable match practice before the two-Test series.

Meanwhile, Auqib Nabi will be looking to make a stronger impression after an underwhelming start to his international ODI career. In his only appearance so far, against the West Indies, he conceded 84 runs in 8.5 overs without picking up a wicket.

The Jammu and Kashmir pacer featured in the first unofficial Test for India A against New Zealand A but missed the playing XI for the second match, which began in Christchurch on Saturday, October 31. His inclusion for the opening three ODIs gives him another opportunity to strengthen his position in India’s pace-bowling group.
