Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have completed a significant four-player trade ahead of the IPL 2027 season, reshaping their squads before next month’s mini auction. England all-rounder Liam Livingstone and Australian seam-bowling all-rounder Jack Edwards will move to CSK, while left-arm pacer Khaleel Ahmed and Australian fast bowler Nathan Ellis will join SRH.

Livingstone, who was initially signed by SRH for ₹13 crore, will join the five-time champions at a revised fee of ₹6 crore. The England international struggled to make an impact during his limited opportunities, featuring in just two matches and scoring 15 runs at a strike rate of 60.
The move will see Livingstone represent his fifth IPL franchise. He has previously played for Rajasthan Royals, Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Punjab Kings, besides SRH. CSK have also secured the services of Jack Edwards at his existing salary of ₹3 crore. The Australian all-rounder was signed by Hyderabad ahead of IPL 2026 but missed the entire tournament after suffering a foot injury.

Edwards, however, enjoyed an impressive Big Bash League 2025-26 campaign with the Sydney Sixers. He claimed 19 wickets and scored 133 runs in 10 innings at an impressive strike rate of 168.35, making him an interesting addition to Chennai’s squad.
In exchange, SRH have brought back Indian left-arm pacer Khaleel Ahmed at his existing fee of ₹4.8 crore. Khaleel previously represented Hyderabad between 2018 and 2021 before joining CSK.

The left-arm pacer claimed 15 wickets in 14 matches during his first season with Chennai. However, his IPL 2026 campaign was disrupted by injury. He played five matches, picked up two wickets at an economy rate of 8.67 and was subsequently ruled out with a right quadriceps injury.
Meanwhile, Nathan Ellis will join SRH at his existing fee of ₹2 crore. The Australian pacer missed IPL 2026 after aggravating a pre-existing hamstring injury before the tournament, requiring an extended rehabilitation period.

Known for his variations and effectiveness in death overs, Ellis could strengthen Hyderabad’s pace-bowling options. Earlier, SRH had also acquired left-arm pacer T Natarajan from Delhi Capitals through a trade deal, with leg-spinner Zeeshan Ansari moving in the opposite direction. These changes highlight the franchises’ efforts to strengthen their combinations ahead of IPL 2027.
