Sunrisers Hyderabad paceman Billy Stanlake has been ruled out of the remainder of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018 season due to a fractured finger. The Australian suffered a displaced fracture on the little finger of his right hand while fielding in the game against Chennai Super Kings on Sunday.

The franchise has confirmed in a tweet that the 23-year-old will not be available for the rest of the tournament.

“Billy Stanlake has been ruled out of the remainder of IPL 2018 owing to a fractured finger. The #OrangeArmy wishes him a speedy recovery,” the franchise tweeted.

The Indian and Australian orthopedic specialists, who had a look at Billy’s injury, have advised the fast bowler should undergo a surgical reduction and fixation operation to restore the functioning of the finger. The franchise also confirmed that the 23-year-old fast bowler has already flown back to his country for further treatment and will not be available for the rest of the tournament.

Billy, who made his first appearance in the IPL by playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) last season, has been in good touch this season playing for a new team – SRH. With five wickets from four games, Stanlake has either partnered Bhuvneshwar Kumar well or stepped up to fill in when the Indian fast bowler was out with a sore back. The only match he missed in the tournament was when Chris Jordan was preferred over him.
