The Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) got successful in defending the lowest total of 118 in the history of IPL in India against the hosts Mumbai Indians (MI) and thrashed them by 31 runs on Tuesday. Their bowlers were up for the challenge and executed their plans really well. Siddarth Kaul was the man who stood till the end for his team as he ended the match with the figures of 3/23 from his 4 overs. However, he was found guilty of the Level 1 offense according to IPL code of conduct.
Siddarth was bowling with his full strength while bowling against Mumbai which brought the best out of him. He was pretty lethal with his full-length deliveries in his second spell as they became difficult to handle for most of the lower order batsmen of MI. He dismissed the bowlers like the likes of Mitchell McClenaghan and Mayank Markande in front of the stumps and ended the hopes of the Mumbai team to win the game by scalping Hardik Pandya in the 18th over.

On wednesday, the BCCI media release said, “Kaul admitted to the Level 1 offense under 2.1.4 of the IPL Code of Conduct for Players and Team Officials and accepted the sanction.” For all the level 1 breaches during the tournament, the match referee’s decision is considered final and the player get reprimanded according to IPL Code of Conduct.
Though the media release didn’t specify any further details, the reports in Cricbuzz suggest that Kaul’s animated celebrations after dismissing Markande prompted the move from the match officials.
Kaul has emerged as one of the best for Sunrisers since last year and even this season he has 9 wickets to his name after playing 6 matches. It is no doubt that SRH is termed as the best bowling unit of the tournament but very few had given them the chance of defending the meagre total which they did easily in the end.
