During the final match of the 11th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at Mumbai, Sunrisers Hyderabad’s Kane Williamson’s attempt to play a pre-meditated shot cost him his wicket.

Earlier Mahendra Singh Dhoni, captain of Chennai Super Kings, had won the toss and chose to field first. Making a solitary change to their playing eleven, Chennai Super Kings included Karn Sharma in place of Harbhajan Singh. On the other hand, Sunrisers Hyderabad made a couple of changes, bringing in Sreevats Goswami and Sandeep Sharma in place of Wriddhiman Saha and Khaleel Ahmed.

Dhoni stumped Williamson.

Williamson came in to bat at No. 3 in the second over after Sreevats Goswami was run-out. Karn Sharma was introduced into the attack in the seventh over of the innings. Bowling his second over, he conceded seven runs but more importantly picked up the wicket of the opposition captain.

On the first delivery of the 13th over, Kane stepped out to a full and wide delivery bowled by Sharma. Williamson’s attempt to play the big shot saw him missing the ball altogether. The formality behind the wickets was completed by Dhoni’s swift hands. Williamson ended up scoring 47 (36) with the help of five fours and two sixes.
