As per the reports of PTI, on Monday, DDCA president, Rajat Sharma said, “Lance Klusener will be Cricket Consultant of Ranji Team of DCCA for One-day tournaments starting from 19th September (Vijay Hazare trophy and Deodhar Trophy) and domestic T20 tournament scheduled in February 2019. His role will require his services alongside the main coach and all the other coaches in the team.”

Klusener is a veteran when it comes to coaching as he has completed the level-three coaching course provided by Cricket South Africa in Spring 2010 and after he started his first coaching stint with Sunfoil Dolphins from 2012 to 2016. After that, Klusener associated himself with Zimbabwe as their batting coach and had a significant role to play. Sikandar Raza, who scored his maiden Test century against Sri Lanka in July last year, credit the all-rounder for batting revival.

Mithun Manhas

Fondly nicknamed Zulu, Klusener played as many as 49 Tests for South Africa between 1996 and 2004 with 1906 runs and 80 wickets. This included four Test centuries and best bowling performance of 8 for 64. However, it was the ODIs where Klusener was more impactful as a player. Known for his incredible finishing abilities because of his ferocious hitting and the ability to break the partnership, Lance was the Man of the Series during the 1999 World Cup in England which Australia won with 281 runs in eight innings and 17 wickets from nine matches.

On the other hand, Manhas’ coaching experience is nothing as compared to his assistant, but he has been at the forefront of Delhi’s success in the domestic arena. Over the years, Manhas has played a crucial role in Delhi’s batting line-up and he was in the team they lifted the cup in 2007-08.
