The India skipper, Virat Kohli left his fans perplexed during the post-match presentation against the Windies in the first ODI of the ongoing five-match series in Guwahati. He said he has just a few years left in him to enjoy the sport. However, Virat’s childhood coach, Rajkumar Sharma says Kohli will play till the age of 40.

Sharma further reckons to represent India is a pride in itself, and the India skipper would do anything to keep himself fit. Kohli had earlier said, “I have few years left in my career to enjoy this sport. Playing for the country is a matter of pride and a huge honor. You can’t afford to take any game lightly. You got to be honest about the sport and that is when the sport gives you back. I try to do that.”

However, Virat had faced a lot of injuries in 2018. Looking at the injury concerns, he might hang on boots sooner rather than later. Meanwhile, Rajkumar Sharma added he is not going anywhere, and he has around ten years of cricketing life left with him.

Sharma said, “I don’t think he wanted to say a few years. You are assured. You will see him playing for India for the next 10 years. He will not retire before the age of 40 as his appetite to make runs will not satiate before that. He did not want to say that. Kohli wanted to say that he has 5-7 years left to play the game. He is not going anywhere for the next 10 years. There is no injury concern to him.”

In addition to that, Kohli had missed quite a few numbers of games due to his injury, especially in 2018. He was ruled out from the third and final match of the T20I series against South Africa earlier this year.
