There is no denying the fact that it has been difficult for most of the oppositions to get under the skin of the Indian skipper Virat Kohli. He has often carried the burden of his team and led them to victories. However, Kohli received an unexpected welcome from the spectators when he stepped out to bat during the Sydney Test. He was booed for the second time in the series by a section of fans.

However, earlier during the Adelaide Test, a similar incident had already taken place. But this time around, Cricket Australia CEO Kevin Roberts made a strong remark on the matter and said he didn’t like seeing this. He also urged fans to show respect to the visitors and give them the best possible experience.

Talking to Fox Sports, Roberts said, “I don’t like seeing that. I would urge our fans to support the game with honor. The game is bigger than all of us, we need to respect our visitors, give them the best possible experience of visiting our country, and then hopefully beat them on the field.”

When Kohli was booed during the third day of the first Test earlier, former Australian skipper Ricky Ponting had said that the Indian skipper must have faced worse than this in his career. He said, “It’ll be water off a duck’s back (for Kohli), I’m sure. He’s probably had worse things happen to him on a cricket field, I would have thought, than getting booed by a couple of spectators as he walks on. If anything, it might have steeled him a little bit more.”  

Kohli has scored a century and half-century in the ongoing Test series. He scored 23 runs during the first innings of the Sydney Test before getting dismissed by pacer Josh Hazlewood. However, India is in a commanding position in the final Test as they have amassed 622 runs for the loss of 7 wickets before declaring their first innings.
