After defeating Australia at their home, the Indian cricket team is the currently locking horns with New Zealand in the series opener of the 5-match series at the McLean Park, in Napier. India bundled out the opposition for a meager total of 157 as Mohammed Shami, Kuldeep Yadav, and Yuzvendra Chahal was the pick of the bowlers for the visitors.
Former India skipper MS Dhoni again showed the importance of his experience in the team from behind the stumps in the 1st ODI in Napier. The Indian wrist-spin duo of Chahal and Kuldeep picked up six wickets among themselves to bundle out the hosts for a paltry 157. Kuldeep scalped four wickets, whereas Chahal picked up a couple.

Dhoni has been known for being chirpy from behind the stumps as he kept guiding the spinners and it paid rich dividends in the past as well. In the 37th over of the match with Trent Boult on strike, Dhoni advised Kuldeep to come round the wicket and with his first ball from a change of angle, he got Boult edging towards first slip, where Rohit Sharma took a comfortable catch.

Meanwhile, Shami became the fastest Indian to claim 100 wickets in One-day Internationals, reaching the mark in the opening match against New Zealand. he achieved the feat in just 55 ODIs in his career. Shami’ wicket number 100 was New Zealand opener Martin Guptill, who played onto his stumps a delivery that moved in after pitching on a good length in the second over of the game.
