After taking a 1-0 lead in the ongoing 5-match series against New Zealand, India is looking to extend the lead at the Bay Oval, Mount Maunganui. They defeated the hosts by 7 wickets in the first ODI in Napier. In the second game, the Indian skipper, Virat Kohli decided to bat and the openers Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan stitched the opening partnership of 154 runs and the innings ended with the vintage finishing touch from MS Dhoni. India scored 324/4 in their quota of 50 overs.
Dhoni along with Kedar Jadhav made a partnership of 53 runs in just 26 balls. However, the highlight was that they amassed 35 runs in last two overs.

In the penultimate over, Jadhav smashed Trent Boult for a four on the very first ball as the bowled attacked the attacks the stumps from around the wicket and Jadhav helps it along to the fine leg boundary. However, it was Dhoni who smashed Boult for a six on the penultimate delivery of the over as he clobbered the ball into the stands at deep midwicket. He heaved the length ball across to clear deep midwicket.

India had reached 303/4 ahead of the final over and they needed a big over at the end which they got as the Indian finishers smashed 21 runs in that over. On the very first delivery again. Jadhav backed away to create some room and hit the full toss ball into the gap over covers off the bowling of Lockie Ferguson. The next ball was quite unusual, as Kedar hopped across the off stump to tuck the ball fine but the top edge was enough to clear the square leg boundary for a six, eve Jadhav was left surprised.
