A few days back, Team India head coach Ravi Shastri criticized the tight schedule of the national squad as it may produce a danger of wear out of players.
In 2017, Indian cricketers are playing back to back series, since the ICC Champions Trophy. They went to West Indies from England to play a 5-match ODI series and soon after that visited Sri Lanka to play 3 Tests, 5 ODIs, and a lone T20I. From Sunday, India will be locking horns with Australia for a 5-match ODI series and 3 T20Is.
When this series ends, New Zealand will visit India for a limited overs series and after that Sri Lanka will be coming home for a complete series. Even in 2018, the schedule is pretty tight for India as they will be visiting South Africa.
However, BCCI might be tweaking the dates of the South Africa tour. Indian board feels that the dates for the Tests and ODIs difficult to change but T20 schedule can be reworked. Talking about the same, a BCCI source told Hindustan Times, “There is hardly any scope to tweak the dates for the Tests and ODIs, but there could be a possibility to rework the T20 schedule. Basically, we are looking at providing enough gap between each format.”
