After taking the wicket-keeping duties in Test cricket, Rishabh Pant became quite famous for his witty sense of humor behind the stumps. However, the wicket-keeper batsman has stirred a controversy after being caught in the stump mic making a prediction of a shot.

During a match between Delhi Capitals (DC) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Saturday, Pant predicted a shot even before the bowler could bowl. He was caught on stump mic saying “yeh toh waise bhi chauka hai”. The incident took place in the fourth over when Sandeep Lamichhane was bowling to Robin Uthappa.

Just after Rishabh made his prediction, Lamichhane was hit for a boundary by Uthappa. The video has become viral on social media with fans claiming it to be a fixed match. Former IPL chairman Lalit Modi also cried foul.

Clarifying the issue, a top BCCI official said, “No one heard what Rishabh said before that particular sentence. He was apparently telling (Delhi Capitals captain) Shreyas Iyer to increase fielders on off-side to stop an imminent four.”

As per the reports of Times of India, the official broadcaster, who hold the digital (streaming rights) rights of the IPL, have complained to various social media platforms for illegal use of their footage and are getting the clippings removed.  The BCCI official said that it was “very unfortunate” that social media ran an incomplete clipping.

The official further added, “Maligning a young cricketer without even knowing the details is so unfortunate. A section of media allowed social media to insinuate and vilify a young talent without getting into details. This is so disgusting.”

Delhi Capitals won the nail-biter against KKR as the game went in the super over after it was drawn. Prithvi Shaw missed century by a run to become the youngest centurion of IPL as he was dismissed for 99. Earlier, After winning the toss Shreyas Iyer led Delhi Capitals chose to bowl first.
