Currently, the two northern greats, Delhi Capitals (DC) and Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) are searching for their third win of IPL 2019 at the IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali. After winning the toss, the Delhi skipper, Shreyas Iyer asked the hosts to bat first. Surprisingly, for KXIP, Sam Curran came out to open the innings with KL Rahul.
During the toss, the KXIP skipper, R Ashwin made shocking revelations as Punjab dropped Chris Gayle and Andrew Tye and in place of them, Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Sam Curran came in the squad. On the other hand, Delhi made only one change as Amit Mishra made way for Avesh Khan. KXIP had a rough start as they lost Rahul in the second over of the innings itself. However, Curran kept the momentum as he smashed three glorious boundaries to Avesh in the very next over.
Curran was looking in the great touch as after smashing Khan he smashed Sandeep Lamichhane for a six as well before getting out on the next ball of the fourth over as well. Soon after his dismissal, Mayank Agarwal got out as well as he had a brain fade moment for him at the non-striker’s end.
After scoring 54 runs in the power play, KXIp was looking good but on the very first ball of the 8th over, hey lost their in-form batsman, Mayank Agarwal.
Harshal Patel was bowling that over and he delivered a ball which was quite wide outside off stump and Sarfaraz Khan drove it to cover, where Shihar Dhawan grabbed the ball quickly and threw straight towards the stumps at the bowler’s end. Mayank was way outside the crease at the bowler’s end and the quickness of the incident got him confused and as it was a direct hit, he had to go back to the pavilion.
Here is the video of the dismissal:
