After having started with six consecutive losses, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has finally started winning the games. After winning the high scoring game against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), they have managed to win a nail-biting thriller yesterday against Chennai Super Kings (CSK). However, MS Dhoni nearly took his side to get past the line but a flash of brilliance from Parthiv Patel helped them to win the game. Parthiv’s direct throw to the wicket ran Shardul Thakur out and they won the game.
Chennai needed 26 runs off the last over. While some were thinking that Bangalore might have won the game, the others were had the trust in Dhoni, one of the best finishers in the cricketing world. Umesh Yadav came to bowl the final over when Dhoni scored 25 runs in the first five balls. Certainly, they were in the winning position with Dhoni’s presence in the middle.

However, the surprise didn’t end there as the final ball was a slower one from Yadav and Dhoni missed it. He tried to take a bye but Parthiv Patel was too fast and he threw the ball to the wicket and his direct hit rat Shardul out. Bangalore won the thriller by 1 run. However, he revealed that Umesh Yadav bowled a slower delivery wide outside the off-stump because they wanted Dhoni to hit towards the off -side so that they could restrict him from taking the final two runs.
“We honestly wanted him (Dhoni) to hit through the off-side on the shorter side of the ground. If he had hit it on the leg-side, there were two runs because I don’t think the way he runs, there was any chance of stopping those two,” he said at the press conference after the match.
He also revealed that he didn’t expect Dhoni would miss the final ball.

“So we wanted (Umesh) to bowl slower and outside the off-stump and surprisingly he missed it. I wasn’t expecting him to miss it but surprisingly he missed it,” he added.
However, Parthiv scored a match-winning 37-ball 53 which helped Bangalore to put up more than 150 runs on board in front of the opponent like Chennai.
