On Tuesday, the Indian skipper, Virat Kohli celebrated his 31st birthday and everyone ranging from fans, detractors, former cricketers, teammates, and rivals from all corners of the world took to social media to congratulate the modern master. He is currently resting from the ongoing India-Bangladesh series, is making the most of his free time.
Recently, the Indian skipper posted a picture of himself playing a cover-drive during a match. That Kohli’s cover-drives can be termed as the cricketing version of nirvana as it never fails to amuse and the Indian superstar aptly captioned it as “therapeutic”. But it was a heartfelt note to his fifteen-year-old version on his birthday that is something everyone should read and get inspired.

It is an open secret now that Kohli’s father- Late Prem Kohli- played a crucial role in him being the star of Indian cricket today. Virat lost his father when he was 16 years old. At the time, the Indian skipper was involved in a Ranji Trophy fixture for Delhi. And, paying an ultimate tribute to his father, young Virat batted throughout the day for his team to make sure that Delhi didn’t lose the game before going for his hero’s last rituals.
Since then, Virat’s graph as a cricketer has never seen a dip. No one has scored more runs (21036), more fifties (98) and hundreds (69) and no batsman averages in more than fifty across the three formats of the game than the Indian skipper in this decade.
That Kohli is not just a cricketer, but also the biggest brand in International cricket and the numbers back it up too. According to SEMrush, the No.1 ODI batsman in the world has been searched over a 2 million (20 lakh) times on a monthly average between January and September in 2019.

As per the case study by SEMrush, an online visibility management platform, Virat along with Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni occupy the top-three positions as far as most searched players in the world are concerned. Kohli is also the most successful Indian Test skipper; a feat that he achieved during Team India’s 3-0 whitewash of the South Africans last month.
