The first Test of the two-match series is being played in Gabba between Australia and Pakistan. Pakistan captain Azhar Ali won the toss and decided to bat first. Pakistan’s openers gave the team a decent start but soon they crumbled from 75-0 to 94-5. Australia’s captain Tim Paine had troubled the batsmen in the series against India last year. He has started the same in the Gabba Test against Pakistan.
Paine tried sledging Pakistan’s wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad during his batting. Rizwan has got a place in the team in place of Sarfaraz Ahmed. Paine reminded Rizwan of teh same as he said, “Sarfaraz smashes a four off these balls, sweeps and four runs.” After the next ball, Paine told Marnus Labuschagne, who fielding at short leg, “It smells good.”

When Rizwan came out to bat, Pakistan had lost 5 wickets for 94 runs. Paine’s sledging did not have much effect on Rizwan as he tried to score as t a brisk pace from the beginning. He scored 37 runs in 34 balls but returned to the pavilion off Pat Cummins. However, controversy has arisen over his dismissal. In the replay, Cummins had his foot over the crease line but third umpire Michael Gough did not give a ball.

In last summer, the Indian gloveman, Rishabh Pant was pulled by Tim Paine in the Boxing Day Test match between Australia and India. As Pant was out of the ODI team due to the comeback of MS Dhoni, Paine tried to provoke him.
Paine had said, “MS has returned to the ODI team. This child should be sent to Hurricanes. It will also provide an opportunity to spend a holiday in a beautiful city like Hobart. Why can you feed the children? I will take my wife to the cinema and till then you feed my children. “
