Melbourne Stars vs Melbourne Renegades game in the Big Bash League (BBL) witnessed a great show at the Melbourne Cricket Stadium (MCG) in large numbers on Saturday. Playing with great intensity, Melbourne Stars’ bowlers didn’t allow Renegades to open their arms as they picked wickets frequently after electing to field first.

For Renegades, Shaun Marsh was the only pick of the performer with the bat where he smashed 43 off 33 balls, with the help of three fours and a six. He got out in the 15th over. Although the leg-spinner Sandeep Lamichhane dismissed him, it was more of a fielder’s wicket. Ben Dunk and Nathan Coulter-Nile showed a great fielding effort at the long-on boundary and completed the catch.

While tweeting the video of the stunning catch, the official Twitter handle of BBL wrote: “The MCG is on it’s feet! What an effort from Ben Dunk and Nathan Coulter-Nile! #BBL09”.

Batting first, Renegades batsman and skipper Aaron Finch managed only 25 runs off 24 balls. Beau Webster scored a 25-ball 29 runs to the team’s total. For Stars, Lamichhane was the pick of the bowlers as he picked up three wickets while conceding only 26 runs in his four-over spell. South Africa pacer Dale Steyn also showed his class and bagged two wickets for only 16 runs in four overs. Another leg-spinner Adam Zampa also bowled pretty well and picked two wickets as well, giving away just 19 runs.

Chasing 143 to win, Marcus Stoinis prived the Stars with a solid start and added 55 runs in first six overs. Stoinis’ half-century (68 off 55) and captain Glenn Maxwell’s 40 off 32 balls took the Stars to register a comfortable eight-wicket win against their opponents, with seven balls remaining.
