The Indian skipper, Virat Kohli will be turning 32 in a matter of two months is just 2 months shy from his 32nd birthday but his fitness is like that of a 20-year-old. He can be expected to lead the Indian team for the next few years. In the cricket world, it’s said that a batsman matures after he enters his 30s. Fielding at any part of the field, batting in crunch situations, Virat Kohli has been known for leading the team with example and that’s why it’s hard to replace him even if he carries some flaws in his captaincy.

But there will be a day when Kohli will have to hang his captaincy boots. There are some probables like 25-year-old Shreyas Iyer whose management can look to nurture for the role. Former India opener Aakash Chopra has coined a different name who can be the “next in line” to lead Team India.

The cricketer-turned-commentator has said that 28-year-old KL Rahul’s temperament and his gameplay make him a captaincy material. Chopra, who is currently undergoing the mandatory quarantine period of 6 days in UAE ahead of the IPL 2020, said that he is eager to see KL Rahul captaining the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) team.

Aakash Chopra further said that Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma belongs to the same age group (31 and 33 respectively) and there will be a time when they will be deemed unfit to lead the Indian team.

Describing the same, Chopra said, “I have hope that his captaincy will be good. If we see Kohli and Rohit, they are of the same age bracket and at one time you may feel that they are not captaining material anymore. When he does that, it is possible that Rahul will be next in line. So, this IPL will show us how KL Rahul will be like a captain but I feel, the manner in which I have seen him play and his temperament, I feel he will be a good captain.”
