Praising debutant pacer Prasidh Krishna’s impressive performance with the ball in his T20I debut against Ireland, former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra expressed his admiration. In the rain-affected opening match of the three-game series, led by Jasprit Bumrah, Team India emerged victorious by two runs (DLS method), securing a 1-0 lead.

Prasidh Krishna, along with skipper Bumrah and spinner Ravi Bishnoi, played a significant role in restricting Ireland to a modest total of 139 runs. Aakash Chopra, now a cricket commentator, commended Prasidh’s bowling display, even suggesting that his attributes are more aligned with the longer formats due to his precise line and length.

Discussing the T20 debuts of Rinku Singh and Prasidh Krishna on his YouTube channel, Aakash Chopra noted, “Two players were given their T20 cap – Rinku Singh and Prasidh Krishna made their debuts. It was slightly surprising that Prasidh hadn’t made his debut thus far. Apart from (Jasprit) Bumrah, the second good story was Prasidh.”

Akaash Chopra continued his analysis by stating that Prasidh Krishna possesses qualities more suitable for formats beyond T20s. He acknowledged the pacer’s pace, correct bowling basics, and effective fast yorkers, and noted that even though his slower ball might need improvement, he is equipped to deliver it.

Highlighting Prasidh’s strength in generating bounce due to his height, Aakash Chopra explained, “What happens with extra bounce and high-arm action? The greater the height from which the ball is released, the higher it bounces. The benefit of that is, because Prasidh is tall and has a high-arm action, the ball hits the upper part of the bat, on the sticker.”

On the other hand, debutant Rinku Singh did not have an opportunity to showcase his batting skills in the rain-affected match. With the second T20I scheduled at the Malahide Cricket Club in Dublin on August 20, Rinku will aim to make his mark in the upcoming game.
