Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra recently shared his observations on the performance of players selected for India’s T20 World Cup squad, expressing concern over their underwhelming form. Chopra specifically highlighted Shivam Dube’s recent struggles, notably his back-to-back golden ducks in matches following the squad announcement.

In addition to Dube, Aakash Chopra pointed out the subpar performances of Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav, and Yuzvendra Chahal since the squad announcement. Reflecting on a recent match between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Punjab Kings, Chopra noted the lack of momentum in CSK’s batting lineup.

Despite a strong start with 60 runs scored in the first six overs, CSK faltered after losing key wickets, including Dube’s dismissal by Rahul Chahar. Chopra emphasized the impact of spinners like Chahar in turning the game against CSK.

“Shivam Dube’s two golden ducks against the same team, both against spinners – first Harpreet Brar and then Rahul Chahar – turned the game,” Aakash Chopra remarked. He pointed out Rahul Chahar’s crucial role in changing the game’s momentum with two wickets in two balls.

While praising Ravindra Jadeja’s resilient batting, Chopra criticized the overall batting performance of CSK, describing it as “slightly ordinary.” He also acknowledged the decent bowling efforts, particularly by Rahul Chahar and Harshal Patel, who each claimed three wickets.

“The bowling was decent, with Rahul Chahar and Harshal Patel taking three wickets each. Arshdeep also took two wickets, but there are concerns about the players selected for India,” Aakash Chopra expressed. He raised questions about the high economy rate of one of the bowlers, emphasizing the need for improved performances from the selected players.
