AB de Villiers better than Virat Kohli, Reckons Experts’ Panel

The COVID-19 virus outbreak has brought the world to a standstill with many countries being completely lockdown for safety and to contain the spread of the virus. Many major sporting events have either been postponed or canceled in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic affecting the globe. Cricket has also suffered a similar fate with all international and domestic matches canceled. Scheduled to begin on March 29, the 13th edition of Indian’s premier cricketing event the IPL has been postponed indefinitely due to the pandemic.  With IPL postponed, a panel of experts got came together and decide to choose the greatest IPL batsman. South Africa’s  AB de Villiers has been named as the greatest batsman in the history of IPL.

AB De Villiers has been a fan favorite across the world and ranks amongst an elite category of cricketers. ABD is someone who doesn’t have any haters because of his unorthodox technique and charming charisma. Widely hailed as one of the greatest batsmen of this generation, AB De Villiers is surely worthy of being IPL’s best ever batsman.

De Villiers retired from international retirement last year and continues to play franchise crickets. He has been a vital cog for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL. ABD has participated in every IPL season since its inauguration. He has represented only 2 franchises across his 12-year association with the IPL, He has donned the Delhi Daredevils jersey some point and later on been a mainstay at RCB.

The South African has amassed 4395 runs including three centuries and 33 half-centuries in 154 IPL matches. At RCB, he has form a potent batting partnership with captain Virat Kohli. The duo has been involved in two 200-plus and five 100-plus batting partnerships over the years making RCB one of the most feared batting lineups.

The likes of Kohli, Virender Sehwag, MS Dhoni, Suresh Raina were also up for debate. Chris Gayle, David Warner,  Kieron Pollard, and Shane Watson also had their name flu around the table.

“Mr. 360. If I look at that list, I’m going to go with AB de Villiers. Mr. 360, because I have seen him score all around the park, all over the IPL,” Morrison said.

The jury that picked De Villiers comprised 50 members which included former cricketers, senior sports journalists, statisticians, broadcasters, and anchors.
