The drafts for the fourth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) is currently going on in Islamabad. The T20 tournament is scheduled to commence on February 14. This year as many as eight matches will be played in Pakistan with United Arab Emirates (UAE) will be co-hosting and the same was announced by Ehsan Mani, the newly appointed Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman.
In the meantime, it has been learned that former South African skipper AB de Villiers is all set to play for Lahore Qalandars in the PSL’s upcoming season. ABD has been picked in the Platinum category ($ 1.4- 2.3 lakhs). Previously, the veteran confirmed his participation in the T20 event and the Qalandars would be mightily pleasured to get him on board.

Earlier this month the Qalandars released former New Zeland cricketer Brendon McCullum, who led the team in the last couple of seasons after right-handed batsman Azhar Ali led them in the inaugural season back in 2016. A lot of expectations were pinned on the Black Caps, both as the captain and batsman but he couldn’t quite help the team arrest its slump.
The Qalandars don’t have many memorable moments of playing in the PSL as they have finished at the bottom of the points table on all three editions. They would be looking to turn their fortunes around under whosoever replaces McCullum as their captain. The franchise has also managed to rope in the young Nepal leg-break bowler Sandeep Lamicchane, who has been highly impressive of late.
As far as De Villiers is concerned, he recently made his return to the field after announcing his international retirement back in May. Mr. 360 is currently leading Tshwane Spartans in the inaugural edition of the Mzansi Super League (MSL). He has done well in the first two matches, having scored 59 and 32 against Cape Town Blitz and Paarl Rocks respectively.
