Veteran South African batsman AB de Villiers is all set to return in the first-class cricket in the first week of October. He will feature for Titans against Warriors in Sunfoil series, South Africa’s domestic FC tournament, from October 6 in Benoni.

Former captain took a long break from the longest format of cricket earlier this year when he said that he needs to focus on his limited overs cricket while keeping 2019 World Cup in his mind. He wore white clothes last time in January 2016 against a touring England side. Since then, De Villiers has missed Test tours of Australia, New Zealand, and England respectively.

However, he made himself available for selection in Test team from mid of October. Thus, his next major appearance will come against India from January’18, who is short to travel Africa for a 3-match Test series.

A media release, confirming 33-year-old’ re-arrival in first-class cricket, also revealed that he will play for SA Invitation XI against Bangladesh in a One-Day fixture. “We are expecting AB to play in the next round of Sunfoil Series matches but he too will benefit from some game time in the shorter format,” South Africa’s selection convener Linda Zondi said.

Meanwhile, South Africa has gained a 1-0 lead in a two-match Test series against Bangladesh after demolishing them by triple nelson. The second Test will kick off on Friday in Bloemfontein.
