The young Indian all-rounder, Abhishek Sharma has often been touted to become the next big thing in Indian cricket. He has all of the characteristics of a match-winner since he is capable of contributing in all three areas. As a result of his exploits in U-19 cricket, the Delhi Daredevils (now Capitals) purchased him for INR 55 lakh at the 2018 Indian Premier League (IPL) auctions. On his IPL debut, the southpaw made an immediate impact, scoring a 46-run innings against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RC) off only 19 balls.

Abhishek Sharma joined the Sunrisers Hyderabad team the following season and played with them for the next three seasons. With the all-rounder still being just 21, he has a long way to go in his career. However, his performance in the early stages of the season is an encouraging signal for Indian cricket.

Notably, Abhishek Sharma played under Kane Williamson’s captaincy in his last two seasons of IPL for SRH. He was also a key player of the team that won the 2018 ICC U19 World Cup in New Zealand as he appeared in all of India’s matches in the World Cup, scoring a significant fifty against Bangladesh in the quarterfinals and forming one-third of the country’s left-arm spin triad throughout the campaign.
