During a recent Tamil Nadu Premier League match, Abhishek Tanwar, a bowler for the Salem Spartans, made an unfortunate and unprecedented record in T20 cricket. He bowled the most expensive ball in the history of the game, conceding a staggering 18 runs in a single delivery. This extraordinary occurrence left the cricketing world astonished and intrigued.

In the match, the Chepauk Super Gillies set a formidable target of 217 runs for the loss of five wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Abhishek Tanwar was given the responsibility to bowl the final over of the innings. Unfortunately for him, it turned out to be disastrous over as he leaked 26 runs.

The trouble began on the fifth ball of the over when Abhishek managed to dismiss Sanjay Yadav, leading to celebrations among his team. However, the joy was short-lived as the umpire signaled a no-ball, nullifying the wicket. To compound matters, the ensuing delivery, a free-hit, was also struck for a six by Sanjay Yadav. Surprisingly, this ball was also deemed a no-ball.

The bizarre sequence continued as Sanjay Yadav managed to take two runs off the next delivery, which was yet again a no-ball. This meant that a total of 11 runs had already been scored off that single delivery. Abhishek, troubled by the no-ball issue, attempted a variation on the following ball, but it ended up being a wide. Lastly, on the last ball of the over, Sanjay Yadav smashed a six.

As a result of three no-balls and one wide, Abhishek Tanwar conceded 18 runs in just one ball, creating an unprecedented and astonishing record. While this is widely regarded as the most expensive ball in cricket history, it is important to note that no official confirmation has been provided regarding this particular record-breaking feat.

The cricketing community, particularly on Twitter, was left in disbelief by this incident. Abhishek Tanwar, an experienced bowler who had previously claimed 17 wickets to become the highest wicket-taker in the previous TNPL season, bowled four consecutive no-balls in a single over. This remarkable feat garnered attention and raised many eyebrows, as no one had ever conceded 18 runs in a single delivery before him. The unwanted record of leaking the most runs on one ball currently belongs to Clint McKay, who was hit for 20 runs by Travis Birt in a BBL match during the 2012/13 season.
