In recent times, There have been a lot of discussions about the retirement of MS Dhoni. The former Indian skipper has been failing quite often with his bat despite having a dream run in IPL 2018. There were several questions raised and he was also dropped from the T20I side for the Windies and Australia series. Furthermore, there have been a lot of pundits who have demanded his retirement. However, former Pakistani skipper, Shahid Afridi has shut down all those critics with his latest statement.
Afridi, who is quite vocal about his opinions and thoughts has come in support of Dhoni. He suggested that the wicket-keeper batsman’s presence will play a crucial role for India in the World Cup 2019. He also stated that the former Indian captain doesn’t need an opinion from others to decide his retirement date.

One of Pakistan’s greatest all-rounders said that no one else can do what MS has done so far for the Indian cricket thus far. Both of them have played a lot of cricket against each other and share a great rapport. Many cricketers from Pakistan are great friends with the Dhoni and know what value he brings to the table.
Describing his point further while speaking to Times Now, Afridi further said that India’s chances will be reinforced if MSD is there in 2019 for the World Cup. He explained, “What Dhoni has done for team India nobody else can and nobody has the right to tell him when to retire. 2019 Dhoni needs to be there for India to have good chances.”
With over 10,000 ODI runs, the Jharkhand gloveman is one of the most experienced cricketers in the current Indian squad. His inputs from behind the stumps are invaluable to the young bowlers. Dhoni is expected to be back in the national squad in January 2019 for the ODI series against Australia.
