After a long wait and lot of hard work, the Mumbai-born Ajaz Patel finally put his feet in the international cricket and at the very early stage, he has grabbed attention to the world cricket. Recently, he has claimed that it would be a great challenging to bowl against the Indian skipper and the top-ranked batsman Virat Kohli.
Just after completing 30-year-old, Ajaz made his international cricket debut through the T20I against Pakistan in the ongoing UAE tour. Playing two matches in the T20I series, he managed to take only one wicket. Though he was in the ODI squad, he failed to make his ODI debut.
However, soon he made his Test debut during the first Test of three-match Test series in this tour and won the Player of the Match award for his brilliant match-winning bowling performances. After picking up two wickets (2/64) during Pakistan’s first innings, the left-arm spinner managed to claim his maiden five-wicket haul (5/59) in international cricket and that widely helped New Zealand to defend 176 runs target in the fourth innings as they won by just four runs.
According to CNN News 18, Ajaz said, “To be honest we had the belief that it can happen on this wicket which wasn’t easy to bat on and we kept that belief that we can pull that off. I think it’s a very much a New Zealand environment thing, that is that everything is possible at any point of time and we always go out and fight regardless of chasing or defending a small total or a large total.”

While the Test series is running in UAE, Ajaz is also looking for the home limited-overs series against India that will be played in January-February 2019. The left-arm spinner also claimed that the Indian skipper Virat Kohli will be a good challenge for him.
Ajaz said, “As a growing Indian you are always passionate about cricket and you watch a lot of great Indian players just like I have watched New Zealand players. Kohli will be a great challenge. You always want to challenge yourself against the best and he is the best in the world. So if that comes I will cherish it and give it the best crack.”
