England batsman Alex Hales has recently said that with every tournament he is playing, he tries to prove to everyone that he can still play international cricket. However, the opener has tested positive for a recreational drug prior to the 2019 World Cup and has not played international cricket since then as well.

However, he was not recalled against Pakistan for the ODI series when the entire main England squad went into isolation following a few COVID-19 cases in the camp. However, the veteran player isn’t disheartened and he continues to work hard and is trying to be consistent until he gets England call-up again.

“Every tournament I play is always a chance for me to keep reminding people I’m still an international quality player. I think the last two years I’ve done that. Every tournament I’ve gone to, I’ve performed well and shown people that I’m still that level of a cricketer, so that’s all I can keep doing. If that chance comes along again, then great,” Alex Hales was quoted as saying by cricket.com.

Meanwhile, he is playing for Trent Rockets in The Hundred where they have won their latest game in a great way by two wickets, and Alex Hales played a major role while chasing a target of 133 runs. Trent were struggling at 58-6 but a stable 40* off 34 balls from Hales and cameos from all-rounders like Lewis Gregory and Rashid Khan helped the team win as well.

“It was a really scrappy, ugly win. I guess that’s a sign of a good team because we had our backs to the wall a lot throughout that game and we still managed to come out on top. I always felt that if I was in at the end, we’d have a chance. It was a fairly difficult pitch to bat on, not your typical Trent Bridge pitch, but you can always catch up at the end there, with the fast-scoring outfield and smallish boundaries. I just tried to hang in there and take it as deep as I could,” Alex Hales concluded.
