India pacer Yash Dayal has been granted interim protection from arrest by the Allahabad High Court in a sexual harassment case filed by a woman who claims to have been in a five-year relationship with the cricketer. The temporary relief was provided by a division bench comprising Justices Siddhartha Varma and Anil Kumar, which ordered that no coercive action be taken until the next hearing or until the police submits its investigation report.

The controversy stems from an FIR lodged on July 6 at the Indirapuram police station in Ghaziabad under Section 69 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The complainant, a woman from Ghaziabad, accused Dayal of sexual exploitation under false pretences.
According to her, Dayal pursued a relationship with her for five years on the promise of marriage, introduced her to his family, and allegedly used that trust to emotionally, physically, and financially exploit her.

The woman further alleged that she faced instances of mental harassment and physical violence, adding that she became financially dependent on Dayal during their relationship. Her statement also mentioned discovering his alleged involvement with other women, which she claimed had shattered her emotionally.
The Allahabad High Court today stayed the arrest of Cricketer Yash Dayal, who plays for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), in connection with an FIR lodged against him for allegedly sexually exploiting a woman for 5 years.

During the hearing, the court expressed concern over the prolonged nature of the relationship. “You could have been fooled for a day or two, but five years? One can’t be fooled for that long,” observed the bench, according to Cricket Times. The court noted that the matter required thorough investigation and declined to make any hasty decisions.

Dayal, in his defence, has denied the charges, claiming the FIR was filed out of malice following his recent selection to the Indian team. He alleged that the woman remained silent until his rise in cricket. Dayal also filed a counter-complaint, accusing the woman of theft and fraud, citing the disappearance of his iPhone and laptop.
