Andre Russell Revaluates His Focus Amid Lockdown

West Indies allrounder Andre Russell has been known for his raw strength that has helped him to win countless matches on numerous occasions. The West Indian has singlehandedly snatched matches away from his opposition and helped the team he is representing to incredible victories.

Andre Russell was awarded for his brilliant performances last year being named Wisden’s leading T20 cricketer of 2019. He reveals how ‘deeply honored’  he felt after receiving the acknowledgment for his hard work. The Caribbean player has also revealed his ambitions for the ICC T20 World Cup that’s scheduled to be played in Australia, later this year.

Speaking on the same, Andre Russell said,  “My main focus currently, is ensuring that I perform to the best of my ability every time I am given the opportunity to play cricket. With the World T20 swiftly approaching, I just want to take things one day at a time and give myself and my team the best possible chance of winning that tournament.”

He also spoke on the effects of COVID-19 Virus that has caused a global pandemic. Russell reveals how he is training indoors and trying to maintain his fitness levels awaiting normalcy to return. The 31-year-old shares his eagerness to play again as the WI star has added more firepower to his batting.

“My body feels amazing and things are really going well for me out in the middle. In the past, I was able to win a lot of matches with brute force. However, I have made strides in regards to my timing and technique. I am very excited for the months ahead,” he said.

Russell who plys his trade wth Kolkata Knight Riders. He was expected to give a demonstration of the improvements in his game in the 13th edition of the IPL. However, amid the growing cases of the Corona Pandemic, IPL is unlikely to happen in the current window.
