Anil Chaudhary To Officiate Record Fifth Ranji Trophy Final In 2024-25 Title Clash

Anil Chaudhary, one of the most respected umpires in Indian domestic and international cricket, has been appointed as the on-field umpire for the highly anticipated final of the Ranji Trophy 2024-25. This will be Chaudhary’s fifth time officiating a Ranji Trophy final, setting a new record in India’s premier domestic red-ball competition. He will be joined by JR Madangopal as the other on-field umpire for the title clash.

Chaudhary boasts an extensive umpiring career, having officiated in 226 matches in the Indian Premier League across various roles, including as an umpire and match referee. Additionally, he has stood in 90 First-Class matches, further cementing his reputation as one of India’s most experienced officials.

The grand finale of the 90th edition of the Ranji Trophy is set to take place at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur, where Vidarbha will lock horns with Kerala for the coveted title. The venue recently hosted the second semi-final, where Vidarbha defeated defending champions Mumbai by 80 runs in a hard-fought contest.

 

Meanwhile, Kerala secured their place in the final with a dramatic two-run first-innings lead over Jammu and Kashmir at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The match witnessed a thrilling climax as Kerala’s bowlers picked up Gujarat’s last four wickets when just 28 runs were needed for victory.

Vidarbha, finishing second in Group B with four wins from seven matches, will be playing in their fourth Ranji Trophy final. On the other hand, Kerala, who finished second in Group C with three wins, will be making their maiden appearance in the final. Eager to script history, they will be determined to go all the way and claim their first-ever Ranji Trophy title.
