Anushka And Virat Feels Proud As Women’s Team Reaches WC Final

The Indian skipper, Virat Kohli and his actress wife, Anushka Sharma won a lot of hearts after they wished India women’s team as they reahced the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup final for the first time on Thursday. A lot of fans were surprised that Anushka was following the cricket tournament closely and eagerly waited to witness a great match.

Under the leadership of Harmanpreet Kaur, India qualified for the Women’s T20 World Cup final for the first time as the semi-final match against England washed out without a ball being bowled in Sydney.

Wishing the Indian team, Anushka tweeted: “Rain played spoilsport when we all wanted to witness a great match and see our girls in blue qualify to the finals! Nonetheless, we will take this with both hands as well. Cannot wait for the 8th of March”.

India qualified for the final as they were the table-toppers in the league stages by being unbeaten in the tournament so far. In the other semi-final, Australia is locking horns with South Africa at the same venue. However, teh second semi-final alos gets washout on Thursday, India will face South Africa in the final as the latter topped their group points table before the knockout stage.

Virat was “proud” of the India women’s team as he tweeted: “Congratulations to the Indian Women’s team on qualifying for the @T20WorldCup final. We are proud of you girls and wish you all the luck for the finals.”

The persistent rain was highly anticipated in Sydney on Thursday. But the International Cricket Council (ICC) decided no to have a reserve day for the semi-finals despite a request from Cricket Australia (CA) on Wednesday. CA chief Kevin Roberts revealed that the ICC declined the offer under tournament rules.

Talking to the SEN radio station, Roberts said, “We’ve asked the question (on a reserve day). It’s not part of the playing conditions and we respect that. We’re optimistic based on the drainage at the SCG combined with a weather forecast that is not perfect but not terrible either.”

The Women’s T20 World Cup final will be played at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground on Sunday.
