Rahul Dravid’s younger son, Anvay Dravid, has taken a significant step in his cricketing journey after earning a place in India’s Under-19 squad for the upcoming tour of Sri Lanka. The BCCI’s Junior Cricket Committee announced the squads on Thursday for the tour, which begins on July 4 and includes three One-Day matches and two Multi-Day games.

The selection marks another important milestone for the 17-year-old wicketkeeper-batter, who has steadily impressed in age-group cricket over the past year. Anvay has been named in India’s Under-19 One-Day squad alongside fellow wicketkeeper Rajat Baghel, while Manav Krishna and Aryan Sandesh Sakpal will handle wicketkeeping duties in the Multi-Day setup.
India Under-19 will be led by Yashbardhan Singh Chauhan in both formats, with Lakshya Raichandani serving as vice-captain for the tour. Anvay’s inclusion comes on the back of consistent performances in domestic cricket. Earlier this season, he captained Karnataka’s Under-19 team to the quarterfinals of the Vinoo Mankad Trophy.

During the tournament, he scored 220 runs in six matches, including an unbeaten 82 that showcased his temperament and ability to anchor an innings under pressure. The young cricketer has also gained experience at the national level. He represented India Under-19 B in a triangular series held in Bengaluru, featuring India A, India B, and Afghanistan Under-19. His performances in youth cricket further earned him a place in Team C for the Under-19 One-Day Challenger Trophy, highlighting the selectors’ growing confidence in his abilities.

Anvay now follows in the footsteps of his father, legendary India batter Rahul Dravid, who remains one of the most respected figures in Indian cricket. The Dravid family has already seen another member enter the national youth setup, with elder brother Samit Dravid having been selected for India’s Under-19 squad against Australia in 2024 before injury ruled him out of the series.
For Anvay, the Sri Lanka tour presents an exciting opportunity to strengthen his credentials and continue his rise through India’s cricket pathway.
