Pressure is a formidable force that can either mould or shatter a person, revealing the true essence of their character. This was evident in the IPL 2024 clash between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) when Arjun Tendulkar faced intense pressure and had to leave the field due to injury after being hit for consecutive sixes by Nicholas Pooran.
The match began with MI skipper Hardik Pandya opting to bowl first, a decision that initially paid off. MI quickly dismissed Devdutt Padikkal and Marcus Stoinis during the powerplay. Deepak Hooda’s early departure in the 10th over, after contributing little to the score, left LSG struggling at 69/3.
However, Nicholas Pooran and KL Rahul then formed a crucial partnership, adding 101 runs and stabilizing the innings. Pooran was particularly impressive, reaching his fifty in just 19 balls. His aggressive batting put immense pressure on MI, especially on Arjun Tendulkar.

During the 15th over, Tendulkar, visibly struggling with an injury, received medical assistance before continuing to bowl. Despite his efforts, Pooran capitalized on the situation, smashing two huge sixes towards deep square leg, completing his half-century.
After these two massive hits, Tendulkar’s condition worsened, and he had to leave the field, raising concerns about the severity of his injury. Naman Dhir took over the bowling duties but faced a challenging time, conceding two fours and a six.
