On a balmy Sunday evening in Dharamsala, Arshdeep Singh reminded everyone why he remains one of Punjab Kings’ most trusted match-winners. With the ball swinging under the lights and the Dhauladhar mountains forming a breathtaking backdrop, Arshdeep ripped through Lucknow Super Giants’ top order, claiming three crucial wickets and finishing with figures of 3 for 16. His efforts derailed LSG’s steep chase of 237 and secured a much-needed win for PBKS.

The left-arm pacer, who now has 16 wickets from 11 matches, sits third in the race for the Purple Cap behind Prasidh Krishna and Josh Hazlewood. But instead of chasing individual milestones, Arshdeep remains grounded. “I’m just enjoying the present. We are taking it day by day,” he said post-match, emphasizing a mindset that has kept him sharp throughout the season.

One key moment came when Arshdeep Singh dismissed Mitchell Marsh, a player known for his explosive starts. A spectacular catch from Nehal Wadhera made it possible, and Arshdeep was all praise for his teammate.

“I was just praying, ‘please catch it,’ because Mitch can be very dangerous if he gets going,” he recalled. Speaking about the conditions, Arshdeep noted how the chill in the second innings aided his swing. “There was movement early on. I enjoyed that. It’s colder in the second innings, and the ball does a bit more,” he explained.

Punjab Kings head coach Ricky Ponting also lauded Arshdeep’s growth this season, particularly his new-ball impact.

“He’s grown in confidence. His first over set the tone — it bounced, it moved, and put pressure on LSG right away,” said Ricky Ponting, hailing the young quick as a “star” and an invaluable asset to the team.

With form, rhythm, and confidence all aligning, Arshdeep is peaking at the right time for Punjab.
