Ashton Agar has been included in the Ashes squad for fifth Test to be played in Sydney from January 4. Keeping spin friendly conditions of Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) in mind, Cricket Australia (CA) drafted him in the 14-man squad.

Agar was picked ahead of Steve O’Keefe, who was the star of Australia’s historic Test win in India. The 24-year-old is all likely to field in that game along with Nathan Lyon, who was the lone spinner in first four Ashes Tests.

Meanwhile, Mitchell Starc remained in the squad despite his absence from Melbourne Test, which Australia drew after a stubborn vigil by skipper Steve Smith. Though, Starc’s participation in SCG is not cleared yet.

Australia has already regained the urn after winning first three Test in a dominant manner.

Australia squad: Steve Smith(captain), David Warner, Cameron Bancroft, Usman Khawaja, Shaun Marsh, Mitchell Marsh, Tim Paine, Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, Nathan Lyon, Jackson Bird, Mitchell Starc, Ashton Agar, Peter Handscomb.
