Ashutosh Sharma, Delhi Capitals’ rising star in the IPL, kicked off his English club cricket stint in spectacular fashion, smashing a blazing century on debut for Wigan Cricket Club. The 26-year-old arrived in the UK on the morning of the match and wasted no time in making an impression in the Liverpool and District Cricket Competition on May 31.

Coming in at No. 5 with Wigan reeling at 17 for 3, Ashutosh played a rescue act that transformed the innings. He forged a match-defining 153-run partnership with opener Aveen Dalugoda, steering the innings out of trouble with some aggressive strokeplay.

He was eventually dismissed for exactly 100 in the 34th over, triggering a late-innings collapse as Wigan folded for 241 in 52 overs. Despite his heroics, Formby CC chased down the target comfortably.
