As the high-stakes IPL 2025 Qualifier 2 approaches, all eyes are on veteran spinner Yuzvendra Chahal and his potential return to the Punjab Kings (PBKS) lineup against the Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Chahal, one of PBKS’s most expensive acquisitions at INR 18 crore in the mega auction, has missed the last three matches due to a right wrist injury.

His presence could prove decisive with Punjab now just one win away from a historic maiden IPL final. Though it hasn’t been a standout season statistically, Yuzvendra Chahal has picked up 14 wickets in 12 matches, with standout performances including a match-winning 4/28 against KKR while defending a modest total of 111.

Another four-wicket haul came against CSK, showcasing his ability to turn games on his own. His injury, initially considered minor, kept him sidelined since May 18, including the Qualifier 1 against RCB. However, recent training sessions in Ahmedabad offer hope.

Yuzvendra Chahal was seen actively participating—bowling, fielding, and even playing football—with his wrist taped for support. Sources suggest he’s prepared to take pain-relief injections if required, signaling his determination to return for the do-or-die clash.

With MI’s middle-order, including Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya, known to falter against crafty spinners, Chahal’s return could give Punjab a crucial tactical edge. His variations and control in the middle overs could be the difference-maker in this knockout battle. Expect PBKS skipper to turn to his trusted leggie when it matters most.
