In what could be a blow to not just the respective Teams but IPL in general, Ravichandran Ashwin has been ruled out of the IPL following a sport hernia injury. Murali Vijay, Kings XI Punjab’s batting mainstay, too is doubtful after injuring his shoulder, an injury that might take six weeks to heal.

For the uninitiated, Ashwin bowled a staggering 738.2 overs in a long home season, where India played 13 Test Matches against four different opponents. This is the most by a bowler in a single Test season. While Ashwin saw roaring success against the Kiwis and then the English, he couldn’t quite manage to shine against the Aussies and looked worn out and burnt.

Jadeja, who was on the contrary phenomenal with both Bat and Ball against Australia in the series gone by, is likely to miss to miss the first three weeks of the latest IPL season, along with Umesh Yadav who impressed everyone with inspired fast bowling. Together, the slow left arm and the pacer bowled more than 5000 deliveries between them in the season gone by. They toiled hard to produce quite a few match winning spells for India. Jadeja represents Gujarat Lions whereas Umesh Yadav plays for Kolkata Knight Riders.

Another sensational player and one of RCB’s batting mainstays, AB Devillier, is set to miss at least a couple of weeks after he picked up a back injury ahead of the Momentum Cup game where he was representing the Titans. Momentum Cup is South Africa’s domestic One Day tournament. The absence of AB Devilliers will definitely hamper RCB’s chances to win their maiden IPL title, as Virat Kohli too has been ruled out of the initial stages of the tournament, whereas the inform KL Rahul is already set to miss out the tournament, both following shoulder injuries picked up during the recently concluded series against Australia.

With so many prominent players out of the IPL, the IPL 2017 will surely lose a part of its sheen. CricketShots wishes the injured players a speedy recovery.
