On Friday night, Indian cricket team clinched an easy victory against Bangladesh in their first Super Four stage game of the ongoing Asia Cup 2018 at Dubai International Cricket Stadium (Dubai). In that encounter, India beat Bangladesh by seven wickets with 82 balls remaining.

Indian captain Rohit Sharma decided to field first after winning the toss. Indian left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja (4/29) and the opening pace bowling partners Bhuvneshwar Kumar (3/32) and Jasprit Bumrah’s (3/37) dominating bowling helped the Indian cricket team to restrict Bangladesh to just 173 runs (49.1 overs).

In reply, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma (83*) played a leading knock that helped the team to reach the target in 36.2 overs after losing three wickets.

  • Best bowling figure by a left-arm spinner in the Asia Cup history. The previous record holder was also Ravindra Jadeja with the bowling figure of 10-1-30-4 against Afghanistan at Dhaka on March 5, 2014.
  • The third best bowling figure by a left-arm bowler in the Asia Cup history.

ii) Bangladesh was bundled out for just 173 runs.

  • The third lowest completed ODI total for Bangladesh against India at neutral venues.

iii) Indian captain Rohit Sharma remained not out on 83 runs.

  • The second highest ODI knock by an Indian skipper against Bangladesh at neutral venues. The record is 96* by Virat Kohli at Birmingham on June 15, 2017.
  • It was Rohit’s third ODI 50+ knock against Bangladesh at neutral venues (two centuries and one half-century). The former Indian batsman Sourav Ganguly was the only other Indian batsman to play more than two 50+ ODI knocks against Bangladesh at neutral venues as he had also hit three 50+ ODI knocks (three half-centuries).
