Afghanistan locked horns with Pakistan in the super-4 stage of the ongoing Asia Cup 2022 in Dubai in a do-or-die game for the minnows. In the 19th over of the second innings, Pakistan’s finisher, Asif Ali was seen having a verbal fight with the Afghanistan pacer, Fareed Ahmed after his dismissal and even threatened the bowler to hit with his bat. Naseem Shah emerged as the unlikely hero as Pakistan defeated Afghanistan in a low-scoring Asia Cup Super 4 thriller at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Wednesday.

Earlier in the game, Pakistan skipper, Babar Azam won the toss and opted to bowl first against Afghanistan in their second Super Four match of the tournament. Pakistan has kept faith in the same XI which helped them to a thrilling last-over win vs India on Sunday.

However, Afghanistan, who lost to Sri Lanka on Saturday, has made a couple of changes with Azmatullah Omarzai and Fareed Malik getting a game. Talking about the incident, Fareed Ahmad bowled an absolute gun delivery to Asif Ali as he banged a short-pitched delivery with a third man and a fine leg in the ring.

Asif was hurried and surprised and he failed to execute the pull shot and top=edged it for the short fine-leg fielder to take a simple catch, who backtracked to take it over his head.

However, after the dismissal, Fareed was seen saying something to Asif Ali and the batter replied to it showing his bat. Naseem, known for his bowling, sent the entire team into an emotional meltdown as he wrapped up the proceedings in some style for Pakistan. With 11 required in the final over of the 130-run chase, the tail-ender smashed Afghanistan pacer Fazalhaq Farooqi for consecutive sixes to drive his side home by one wicket and secure a place in the final.
