The Indian skipper Virat Kohli played some important knocks in this ODI series as the no.1 ODI ranked batsman scored 153 runs in this series with the average of 51.00. After a disappointing three runs innings in the first ODI, Kohli won the Player of the Match award in the second ODI by playing a match-winning century knock (104). In the series-decider final ODI, Kohli played a crucial knock of 46 runs.

 

Shaun Marsh (Australia)

While the 35-year-old Australian left-handed batsman was not so impressive in the four-match home Test series against India just prior to the ODI series, he was in a very great form during the ODI series. Marsh finished the series as the leading run-scorer after scoring 224 runs in three innings with the average of 74.66. After scoring 54 runs in the first ODI, Marsh played a brilliant century knock (131) in the second ODI to put a challenging total on the board but suffered a defeat at the end. In the third ODI, Marsh once again played an important knock of 39 runs when his team was struggling at the early period.

 

MS Dhoni (India) –wicketkeeper-batsman

The Indian wicketkeeper-batsman MS Dhoni was struggling with the bat in 2018 as he had no ODI 50+ innings and had only the average of 25.00. However, he has changed everything in this series as he played three 50+ knocks in the all three games of this ODI series. Scoring 193 runs in this series with the average of 193.00, which was the second most runs for a batsman in this series, Dhoni won the Player of the Series award.

In the first ODI, when India was struggling on 4/3, Dhoni provided a crucial 137-run partnership with the opener Rohit Sharma for the fourth wicket and scored 51 off 96 balls. In the next two ODIs, Dhoni played two match-winning unbeaten knocks off 55* & 87*.

 

Peter Handscomb (Australia)

In the earlier Test series, the Australian cricketer Peter Handscomb was criticised for his poor batting. The situation widely changed in the ODI series as he was very consistent with the bat as he scored 151 runs with the average of 50.33. In the first ODI, his 73-run knock helped his team to achieve a crucial victory. While he scored 20 runs in the second ODI, he managed to play a crucial knock of 58 run innings in the third ODI when his team was in deep trouble.

 

Marcus Stoinis (Australia) – all-rounder

The Australian all-rounder Marcus Stoinis provided some good quality performances during the ODI series. Stoinis scored 86 runs in the series as a middle-order batsman with the average of 43.00 and on the other hand, he also bagged four wickets in the series.

His best performances were in the first ODI where his unbeaten 47-run knock and 2/66 bowling figure became useful for his team to win that game. In the next two games, Stoinis scored 29 & 10 runs and also had the bowling figures of 1/46 & 1/60 respectively.
